The Oasis of Issen, near Ouled Teima
This vast restaurant with swimming pools and covers offers succulent fish and seafood in huge quantities. Ignored by tourism, it is worth a visit.
We reach the Oasis of Issen (Waha Issen in Arabic), previously more poetically called Waha Zitoun, in fourteen minutes from the Jardin aux Etoiles according to the Google Maps at the bottom of the page.
This vast and new restaurant is a pleasant change from the popular cafes ofOuled Teima.
Folk productions on Sunday
We eat preferably in the courtyard, around water sources and palm trees. Shelters have been installed, and vary according to the seasons. A Berber tent offers, for example, authenticity and freshness. L'Oasis d'Issen has two pretty swimming pools, one of which is reserved for children, who can also enjoy an indoor games room. On Sunday, folklore productions by singer-dancers from the Souss Valley. For those who appreciate high sound productions!
An area reserved for camping-caravanning has been installed in the south, but has apparently not yet received the necessary authorizations.

Alongside traditional Moroccan cuisine, including meat skewers that are also suitable for small appetites, L'Oasis d'Issen had the excellent idea of offering fish and seafood, which is appreciable insofar as we are some 50 km from the ocean.
Perfectly reasonable prices
The products served are delivered daily. Better: the chef has worked in a restaurant on the Côte d'Azur and is perfectly familiar with "pink on the edge" cooking. Extremely rare in Morocco, where as in almost all Mediterranean countries, the fish is overcooked, causing it to lose its softness and part of its taste qualities. We have tested several times at L'Oasis d'Issen dishes comprising either exclusively seafood, or only fish, or a mixture of the two. It was delicious every time! Strongly recommend. The prices remain perfectly reasonable, given the quality offered and the quantities served, which are close to staggering.
The dishes are automatically accompanied by a flatbread of Berber bread and mineral water. Too bad we can't accompany these delights with a little Moroccan white wine. Alcohol is prohibited here. It is true that the Oasis of Issen is hardly known to tourists. One more reason to stop there.
The Oasis of Issen deserves two out of three hearts. Be careful, however, to maintain the right quality level of the boot! We noted a risk of spoilage during our last visits (lemons sold out in the early evening, which is somewhat annoying when eating fish!)
