Aladdin's Shop in Taroudant: very beautiful
and quite expensive...
It is one of the most beautiful stores of art and antiques, more or less old, in southern Morocco. Installed in the ex-synagogue of Taroudant, the former Saadian capital, Aladin (sometimes written Aladdin) takes the form of a veritable Ali Baba's cave. Anyone who loves beautiful objects is tempted by the devil in Aladdin.

Aladdin's magnificence is apparent from the outside

Aladdin's facade gives no hint of the riches within

The items offered by Aladin benefit from a superb architectural setting

An alloy of copper, nickel and zinc

Always under the seal of quality

You can find almost anything at Aladin's

The old rubs shoulders with the contemporary here

It's often counterproductive

Although surrounded by high walls, it can still be visited
The prices, one suspects, are high, even very high. Bargain absolutely essential! And, in any case, we have some for the pleasure of the eyes!
The seal of quality
At Aladin, although part of the stock has found takers in Marrakech, there are all kinds of elaborate decorative objects, vases, lamps, tables, extremely fine camel skin seats, an incredible reserve of carpets too, or even dishes made of nickel silver, an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc quite common in Morocco.
Some pieces are very old, others come out of the workshop. They have one thing in common: they are stamped with the seal of quality, although the amonites presented are doubtful as to their authenticity.
Counterproductive insistence
Warning: the sellers are insistent. It's unpleasant and often counterproductive... Because who likes to buy under pressure? For this reason, it may be necessary to give up the purchase of a superb wood and copper dish...
The Taroudant Synagogue was decommissioned shortly after Morocco's independence, when indigenous Jews took over the leadership of Israel en masse. Like all those of Morocco, with the exception of Essaouira, the Jewish community of Taroudant is on the verge of extinction. Only remnants of the strong past imprint remain, such as the old Jewish cemetery which remains intact that can be visited near Aladdin. There is indeed always a native on the lookout for the slightest dirham and who will lead you there...
Aladdin also has a store at municipal souk of Taroudant (block B n°31), tel +212 5 28 85 30 01
